RACECAR
R e v i e w s

Sometimes you hear a song that makes a great emotional impact. “Dance Like a Ghost” by Racecar is such a song. The lyrics have a poetic groove that reflects the troubling and empty aspects of life. All of the words and the phrasing translate clearly while the musical score is rich, powerful and strong. The melodies are solid and ominous. The composition is creative and coherent with a good rhythmic flow. The arrangement is perfect and follows a good tempo. The sound quality, mix and dynamics are excellent. The production is nearly good enough to be used as a commercial master. The title of the song “Dance Like a Ghost” is mysterious and thought provoking. It is a perfect hook for the listener and retains its pertinence. Not only is the song marketable but I believe it to be a potential hit. This is a superbly entertaining song.

'Quite engaging, the first line makes you want to hear more. Unique and intriguing title, nice guitars, good rhyme patterns.'

----- Taxi, Unknown Guru, 2007

'Their Moniker is deceptive: we are not faced with a heavy rock band with a passion for racecars, but with a delicate formation from New Mexico that does not try to hide its well grounded roots in American Classic Rock with full-bodied acoustic guitars that bring to mind Grand Funk Railroad.'

'The result that emerges from all this, however, is something current that embraces other writers like Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens, but is created in a more modern way that is not withered.'

'In fact in some instances, you can notice a resemblance with another band who in its last album willfully tapped into in the history of American-folk, the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.'

'The comparison does not hold-up. The latter is definitely more mature and concrete, however, Racecar demonstrates to be very good at exploring the curves of hypothetical dusty and sandy country sides during a sunset in the heart of the United States and bringing to life new sensations.'

----- In Your Eyes Zine, Dolorean Grey, 2006

'The album is real good and we are pleased to announce that it has been added to our playlist for daily programming on our syndicated shows.'

----- Trans American Broadcasting Corporation, Shane Wilder, 2005

'Racecar is the creation of David Alyassin. David is a singer and songwriter who also plays the drums and guitar. He is supported by a capable band. Racecar's sound is a blend of alternative, classic rock and modern pop with a bit of corporate grunge and punk thrown in for good measure. Alyassin pens spiritual, thoughtful lyrics that are sometimes sensual. His songs are filled with visual imagery. David has an earthy but clear vocal style. The self-titled, fourteen-track CD is diverse blending modern and vintage sounds and styles. 'All Of The Signs' is a spirited acoustic composition with concise vocals and a catchy groove. 'Jigsaw Puzzle' has lively instrumentation combined with a Dylan like rap of observations. Racecar is an innovative band crafting eclectic songs from the past and present!'
